BOD is a kind of environmental pollution index, which is mainly used to determine the pollution status of organic matter in water it can also be used as a basis to evaluate the operation efficiency of sewage treatment plant, ETP, so as to find the right treatment method.

The method is based on pressure measurement in a closed system: micro organisms in the sample consume the oxygen and librate CO2, which is absorbed by KOH, creating a vaccum which can be read directly in mg/I by BOD Sensor
